X-rays & Digital

X-rays -

X-rays & Digital X-rays

X-rays are a focused beam of X-ray particles passed through bone, which produces an image on special film, showing the structure through which it passed. This provides the familiar black and white images doctors and dentists use to diagnose problems and diseases. Without an X-ray of the whole tooth and supporting bone and gum tissues, there would be no way to detect infection or pathology that requires attention.

In our office, we use digital radiography, which allows us to take X-rays using up to 90% less radiation than conventional film X-rays. Using this technology, we are able to take an X-ray of your mouth by using a small sensor that records the image of your teeth and sends it to a computer. The result is a highly detailed image of your mouth that can easily be enhanced to better diagnose dental concerns and determine the very best treatment for each case.

Digital Imaging

We use digital imaging software in our office, which allows us to take a digital picture of you and use our imaging system to predict how a particular treatment or cosmetic procedure would change the appearance of your teeth. This software is beneficial for patients who are considering cosmetic procedures but are not sure if they're ready for dramatic changes. Digital imaging also allows us to document your dental case and procedures very well. We take digital images of your face, teeth and smile to provide us with a permanent dental record and to provide a visual documentation of treatment.

Telescopic Loupe

The dentist performs most of their dental procedures while wearing a distinctive pair of funny-looking glasses known as surgical telescopes. These specialized glasses, which may seem amusing at first glance, are equipped with advanced magnifiers that significantly enhance the dentist's vision. This powerful optical technology allows them to see intricate details and subtle nuances within a patient's mouth that would otherwise go unnoticed by the naked eye. By utilizing these innovative glasses, the dentist can ensure a higher level of precision and accuracy during procedures, ultimately leading to better outcomes for their patients.

Laser Dentistry

Laser dentistry is the latest advancement in dental technology, treating a wide range of dental and cosmetic problems from cavities to gum disease to teeth whitening. The lasers we use in laser dentistry at our practice are an alternative to the common hand-held scalpel, drills, or other tools. These lasers direct an invisible energy beam onto problem areas and allow us to efficiently treat decayed teeth, enamel, and gums. The benefit of laser dentistry is that it minimizes the pain most often associated with dental procedures, meaning more comfort to our patients. Clinical studies show that approximately 96% of all patients require no anesthesia when lasers are being used during dental treatments. Dental lasers have been approved by the Food and Drug Administration and are safe for both adults and children.

Soft Tissue Laser

Soft tissue lasers are used to safely remove soft tissue, such as excess gum tissue. The soft tissue laser can also be employed to destroy bacteria in gum pockets, preventing infection and allowing the tissue to return to a healthy state. The soft tissue laser enables the dentist to treat our patients with extreme accuracy and eliminates the need for most procedures.

CEREC technology

Using the Dentsply Sirona Cerec CAD/CAM Mill & Dentsply Sirona Speed Fire

We've transformed how we create dental restorations at South River Dental Care using our CEREC Technology. This advanced system, which includes a CEREC CAD/CAM Mill and SpeedFire furnace, allows us to make beautiful, custom crowns, inlays, onlays, and veneers in just one visit. This saves you the time and hassle of multiple appointments.

Our process is simple. Instead of using messy, traditional molds, we take a quick digital scan of your mouth with the Primescan. Then, our specialized CEREC software uses this scan to design a perfect, custom-fit restoration. Once the design is ready, our milling unit expertly crafts it from a strong material like ceramic or zirconia. The final piece is then placed in our SpeedFire furnace, which can harden a crown in as little as 10-15 minutes. This entire streamlined process ensures you leave your appointment with a durable and beautiful new smile.

3D Printing

Using the Dentsply Sirona Primeprint 3D printer

At South River Dental Care, we're revolutionizing dentistry with 3D printing, a game-changing process that crafts custom-fit dental devices with remarkable precision. Using our Dentsply Sirona Primeprint 3D printer, we can quickly and comfortably create everything from dentures and orthodontic aligners to surgical guides and crowns. The process begins with a precise scan of your mouth, which is then transformed into a digital 3D design. Our printers then use this design to layer specialized materials, ensuring a perfect fit and faster results than traditional methods.

Our use of 3D printing technology offers significant advantages for your dental care. The process is incredibly precise and accurate, ensuring a perfect, comfortable fit for your custom dental device, which also contributes to its longevity. Because we can produce these devices in-house, the treatment is delivered with remarkable speed and efficiency, reducing your wait time. Additionally, the entirely digital workflow eliminates the need for uncomfortable, traditional impressions, providing a more pleasant experience. Ultimately, the combination of precision and speed leads to more effective, predictable, and better patient outcomes.
